We hosted a timely and lively Zoom session on the issue of attacks on voting rights underway in many states. Panelists working on the front lines reported what they see happening day to day, what steps they are taking, and what steps we can take to help. Winding up in a hopeful assessment for the future, panelists were inspirational in describing their creative and persistent actions to protect one of the core values of our democracy.

Original Event Description
As you are well aware, there are now numerous attempts across the country to suppress voting. At the same time, some great organizations are working hard to fight such efforts and to promote greater voter engagement. Please join us on Zoom on Wednesday May 12 from 7 to 8:30pm to learn more about some of these efforts and how you might support them as well.
Our speakers (see below) are seasoned organizers and scholars who will address the most important types of strategies (litigation, community-based outreach, etc.) that already have worked in Georgia and other states.
Panelists are:
- Nse Ufot, CEO of the New Georgia Project (founded by Stacey Abrams)
- Brad Christian-Sallis, Voting Rights Director at Civic Nebraska
- Miles Rapoport ’71, former secretary of state in Connecticut and Senior Practice Fellow in American Democracy at the Ash Center, Kennedy School of Government
The moderator will be our classmate, Judith Kauffman Baker. The discussion will include actions we might take to expand voting rights and democratic participation at this critical point in our country's history. Please join us for a lively conversation.
